Arctic Tale

This is a very educational movie - an issue that may cause serious damage to the whole environment!

I feel very heart-broken when Nanu's brother bear died because he wasn't able to find food due to the thinning ice which made it difficult to hunt. Nanu's mum urged him to continue and he tried very hard to fight on to survive but in the end they still lost him. Nanu & her mum snuggled beside him and finally let the snow bury him. Sigh....

On the other hand, there's this Walrus, Seela, which is food for Nanu & her family, had to 'migrate' and find land to cling onto due to global warming as well. WOW! I can never imagine they can eat 4,000 clams at one shot and that could last them for at least a long time!!!! No wonder they are so fat & flubby! When they swam to this "Rock Island", they had a hard time climbing up as they were too slippery & heavy! After eating 4,000 clams, they 'farted' a lot due to indigestion man! & I think swimming 200 miles a day doesn't help them lose those calories!

I also learnt that male polar bears do not like to share food with others. How Selfish! When Seela was caught by the male polar bear, one of her aunty went back to save her. In the end she sacrificed herself while Neela escaped and later she waited for the right male walrus to come along and mated (like humans!!). Walruses loved music! and a male walrus can serenade a female for 50 hours in order to win her love! How romantic!!!

There were unicorns in the sea too! Very interesting creatures! but all very vulnerable to the effects of global warming.

The music was very nice too! I loved the music when the walruses felt itchy and needed to scratch themselves due to the heat. The music was spot on! Very lively & playful, yet describing the scenario very aptly.

In the end Nanu gave birth to a pair of bear cubs too! So cute!!!!!

IF we do nothing to stop global warming, all the ice in the arctic will melt by 2040! That's a scary 33 years from now!!!! I can't imagine what implications this means but probably Singapore would sink or flooded... and the whole world will come to an end due to flooding and polar bears are swept to Singapore?

29th August - the Big Day!

29th August marks my last day with my present company.

3rd Sept marks my first day with my new company.

Its a mixture of feelings...

3 years have passed since I started working for this company.... 7 years have passed since I've joined the media & advertising industry... sometimes I really wonder how long can I survive in this industry. How long more before I finally burnt out?

I was thinking of quitting the industry but I thought hard about what I would really want to do... and then I think its quite tough to get what I want also... plus the salary.... plus the experience... sigh....

Today a media owner bought me lunch at Lei Garden. The dim sum there is quite nice. There's this Yam & Pumpkin Puff. Quite yummy!! and the soup is very delicious too!! Slurp....

Many people have sent me their well-wishes and I sincerely thank these people from the bottom of my hearts. I'm very lucky to have met most of them as I never thought I can find 'real friends' in this industry.

I look forward to tomorrow....

I found some farewell quotes on the internet :

Nothing makes the earth seem so spacious as to have friends at a distance; they make the latitudes and longitudes. ~Henry David Thoreau

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. ~Flavia Weedn, Forever, © Flavia.com

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. ~Gilda Radner

Movie Marathon Friday

Went to watch "The Secret" & "Ratatouille" on Friday with XL & YS.

"The Secret" had a twist to its ending which was quite surprising to me. I had initially thought that the girl could be a ghost since its the lunar 7th month, hence, a lot of horror movies sprang up in cinemas lately. However, the twist was quite interesting. I think Jay Chou did a good job in directing the movie. I liked to see the movements of the keys on the piano and I loved the part when he & Yuhao (from Nan Quan Mama) were having the piano competition. Makes me really wonder if they had really fast fingers like those! They were awesome! The fat guy was quite comical. Overall I felt the show was quite interesting.

Then we caught "Ratatouille" - which incidentaly is the name of a dish! The dish was simple and quite 'rojak' according to my brother who's a chef. The rat Remy is very cute!! There are some parts when I see him I felt like carrying him and pinch his pink nose! hehehe..... The moral of the story is "Anyone can cook!" Maybe I should go into the kitchen and try cooking something.... hahahaha..... but I have to buy cookbooks first! I liked the pace of the movie, and that food critic "EGO" looked damn farnie when he tasted the "Ratatouille" that Remy made.

I heard "881" was quite nice. Maybe I should go and watch it next! And I must go and watch "Hairspray" too!!!
