The Kite Runner
This is a very touching story...
I always wondered why Amir 'betrayed' Hassan, who had been a loyal servant and 'friend' of his, and ruined the friendship between them (though I know Hassan had never blamed Amir for what he had done, and he willingly agreed that he stole Amir's watch).
IF I were Hassan, I would have felt very devastated. Imagine you running after the kite with all your might for your master/friend who managed to cut his opponent's kite and got beaten up by those rich and smug kids. They whipped him hard and he bled... but he didn't even utter a word... Amir, on the other hand, was really too weak to even defend him! Sigh...
I always thought that we should not compare the novel to the movie as the movie would not contain all the details of the book. Furthermore, words can paint a thousand pictures, but a picture does not speak a thousand words.
For those who have not read the novel, I think its a show good enough to watch on its own. But I guess many would buy the novel to read it after the movie :)
