Marmalade Pantry

Had lunch with 2 salespeople from ChannelNewsAsia today at Marmalade Pantry in Palais Renaissance.

Yummy! Yum Yum!

Firstly, I had the parsnip & sweet potato soup. I think the bread is quite nice compared to the soup... but as I was too hungry, I finished the whole bowl!!! We also ordered a "Fresh Feta Salad with braised artichokes & garlic couscous" and the "crab caesar salad". The latter is more delicious than the first! Yummy!!

I ordered the "Salmon Teriyaki with Chilled Soba". Tasted great!! Simple yet delicious! And I think its a healthier choice compared to the others who ordered "Risotto with roast eggplant artichokes & zucchini", "linguini with crabmeat tomato chilli & peanuts", "the ultimate beef buger" and Miss Keng who sat beside me had "Softshell crab".

After that we still had room for dessert!!! I ordered the "Apple & Rhubarb Crumble". Its so heavenly!!!!! Jenn ordered the "sticky date toffee pudding with vanilla bean ice cream". Tastes good but not as good as my "Apple & Rhubarb Crumble".

I felt so full after the lunch!!

The company's great! Ivan & Bryan are very farnie! And we had our eyes "Sore" watching "Cracks" in womens' pants! haha.... how crude! but its the truth!

YES!! Today is the last working day in 2005!!! My office is closed tomorrow. Phew! Can go to the Expo and buy books from the TIMES BOOKSHOP FAIR!!!

I look forward to good sleep tonight! Weather is very cooling lately and that has cause the room temperature to go down at night (Even without opening the windows!!!) Hope I dun fall sick! I want to enjoy my new year holidays!!!!

Plastic People

The society nowadays not only uses plastic money but is filled with PLASTIC PEOPLE and I am not talking about the invasion of Barbie Dolls, Bratz, or even Action Heroes like Batman or Spiderman!

Yesterday evening, as I was about to leave home from work, this colleague of mine started to complain about her workload. Since she's so vocal, can't she make any noise to prevent herself from drowning in her pile of work? It's like she's trying to make all of us feel small and ashamed of ourselves because we only handle certain sets of accounts and can go home around 8pm! Well, if she needs help, she can ask for it! I'm sure our boss will make arrangements to send her help. But I got a feeling she just want to get into the boss' good books, hence, she tries to take on everything! And blame the others for not VOLUNTEERING to help! Hmmm... at the end of the day when the company gives out attractive bonuses, her grouse would be "My team works the hardest and the others just sit and reap the rewards!"

Somehow I'm very sick of such remarks.

And this 'neighbour' of mine who always has an opinion of her own is always faking illness after having too much fun during the holiday season. She reported sick yesterday but when she came in this morning at 9:45am, she don't sound sick at all!!! Not even signs of flu... gastric... or whatever illness she claims she has!! And if the fact is true that you get stomache when your stomache is empty, I know why she gets migraine so often (cos her head is empty!)

Miss Keng is the happiest of all, cos she was granted her leave yesterday afterall...

Christmas came and went...

New Year is approaching. And I really hope that the seating arrangement for next year in the new office is not such that I have to sit beside Miss Keng and that Kiampa Face for they will spoil the best of moods & the best of sceneries!!!

"Crappy Horse" & "Crappy Promise"

Went to watch "The Promise" on Wednesday at Great World City with Emily. The show is super crappy, and "Zhang Dong Jian", the Korean actor was at the cinema to promote the movie. The CGI effects were cool, but too exaggerating!!!!

I see a lot of shadows from other films like "Forrest Gump", "Kung Fu Hustle", and "Batman" with the Riddler or Penguin who has a 'fake hand'...

So damn pissed off with mum Wed night as she gave me very late notice that my 'custom-made' wardrobe will be delivered on Thursday morning at 10am!!! and I reached home around 12+ after watching "The Promise". I had to pack up my stuff until 1:30am before going to bed.... poor me!! Lack of sleep!!!!!

Then on Thursday, Moove Media invited us to Clarke Quay to watch "The Crazy Horse" performance.... Well... I can't seem to see how Artistic the show was... It should be called "Crappy Horse". The seats are very uncomfortable and the lighting is a bit off. The girls were performing errotic dances most of the time.... felt like watching 100mins of Pornography.... SIanzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I hope I dun get CRAPPY Prizes during the X'mas lucky draw going to take place soon....... It's already 12:30am!! Gotta get some sleep.

Its a tough chore waiting for a cab nowadays..... grrrrrrrrr

Marina South National Day Celebration Concert)

Everywhere's A Nightmare!

Was at Orchard Road over the weekends and OH MY GOD!!! The place is horrible!!!! Just by looking at the number of heads in the distance ahead is enough to scare the shit out of me!! The place is so busy!! and people just push and shoved their way around. So RUDE!!!

Managed to get hold of 3 CDs from HMV - Emi Fujita's "Rembrandt Sky", Barenaked Ladies "Greatest Hits 1991-2001" and "Franz Ferdinand's "You Could Have It So Much Better". Felt like getting more, but this month's budget is limited due to the christmas presents that I have to buy... Xueling & Yuanyuan have not given me their x'mas wish list yet!!! Must think of a forfeit for them liao.... who ask them to procrastinate?!?!?!

Finally bought the VCD set and card for Yanshan. We mailed it out on Saturday (3 Dec 05), let's see how long it will reach Yanshan in Israel. I hope they dun despatch mails by CAMELS!! scully the VCD will reach her on the eve of her coming to Singapore for good!! HAHAHA... shouldn't imagine too much, just pray that the gift will reach her soon : )

Managed to catch "STAR AWARDS" last night on Channel 8. The part where the fans and Zoe Tay made fun of Christopher Lee, asking him to propose to Fann Wong. Her first gown is quite nice, but when she changed into this golden yellow fluffy pants?? It looks horrible!!!

Am currently listening to Emi Fujita's soothing voice on my workstation : )
I liked "Somewhere", "Lucky Day", "My Summer Love" and "Ten Million Years". Shall listen to Franz Ferdinand tonight : )

30 November already

WOW! Time flies.... in just 10 days, I'll be in Singapore Expo enjoying MAYDAY's FINAL HOME Concert!!! This is really really one day I'm waiting for!!!!

Stupid Markov is postponed to Jan 06 !!! ARGHH!! This is a painful period for us as we need to digest 100 over Powerpoint slides and try to make sense of the research and fine-tune the media strategy. We also have to find out why respondents' recall for certain campaigns are higher than our client's. Hence, this is the period of number-crunching, and lots of runs on TNS and ACN softwares! Phew!

Chicken Little is starting tomorrow!! YEAH!!! I like find Chicken Little so cute!! There's this 1m tall plushie which is sooooooooooo cute I wish I could own it!! But that's quite expensive and impractical!

Anyway, the Sky is FALLING!!! and so is SHIT!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Went to watch the movie last night.

Show was very smooth with no climax at all... killed all my expectations of a good movie... but nonetheless, the special effects are really nice!

By the time I reached home, its already 12:15am!!! Had to quickly shower and go to bed or else I'll become a panda the next morning.

Room temperature is lower than usual. Brrrrrr.... I felt like I could need an extra blanket. Anyway, its the rainy season I guess, that's why the rain just won't go away...

Yesterday was Jennifer's birthday, and what a coincidence, Rebecca & Karen were born on the same day too!!! We had a team lunch at this Cafe Bar opposite the Afro Asia Building. Heard that Fann Wong's little sister worked part-time there. The food is not bad, but after leaving the place, I smell like the "Sin Po Po Chicken" which I've eaten!! We gave Jen a big bag of foodstuff - the "Emergency Food Ration Pack"- since she gets hungry easily.

Seems that the HDB Flats in Seng Kang & Punggol are not fit for living. Jen is on urgent leave today because something happened to her living room tiles!! There were cracks and it looks like a tsunamis just hit them!!! Due to its proximity to the sea, and because of the weather changes, cracks in the walls and floor tiles are common in Seng Kang & Punggol for these few days... hmm... should call the NEW PAPER hotline or LIANHE WANBAO or SHIN MIN to report the news! haha....

Yawnzzzzzzz.... Melissa came to have lunch with me and Joan just now. We went to this Thai restaurant - Tuk Tuk. Mel wanted to find out more about the job openings for MEC and Joan told her what to expect. She's going to send her resume to Joan, so hopefully, she can move out of her current job which is really 'stagnant'.

OBS 18 Nov 2005

was late, as usual, for the OBS. We had to wait for her and Joan at the ferry terminal at Punggol End. Well... how can you expect someone who always turns up for work at around 10am to be punctual?? She is only punctual for DRINKING sessions, I am afraid. And I think it runs in the blood? 'cos she told me before that her dad ferried her to work as he's working around our office. So does that mean her dad is not a punctual person as well? Or does her dad own the company to be able to go in at a time of his preference?

Anyway, the training was quite cool. Our trainer is Cui'E. She's quite a nice person. The first game we had was to find a person we're not very familiar with and tell them 3 things - Nickname, Personal self and Unknown self. I went to Jen Chong since she's new and found out that her nickname was "skinny" (becos of her frame), and she loved sports. She's very outgoing and loves to do things that make her perspire. But she doesn't like going to the gym as she thinks its too 'air-conditioned'. We didn't really have time to go through our Unknown self but she told me there's nothing unknown about her. After that, we're supposed to resume the identity of the person whom we've just traded 'secrets' and look for another person. I looked for Wendy Tan who resumed the role of Joan. Haha... Joan's nickname was "Mui Suan" or "Dao Suan" cos her dialect name is Han Mui Suan. Then her hates cats, can't even stand the picture of a cat! No wonder she freaked out when Diana bought us a 'farewell card' with a picture of a cute cat on it! Then she couldn't make coffee or milo... ermm... that's quite an open secret!

That "Kiam Pa Face" said something like "I really really like music though I don't play in the band". Hahahaha... is that sentence directing at me? Well... I know a lot of people who really really like music too, but too bad she's not musically-inclined lor... and some of the comments she made really sounded 'kiam pa' too. Like, when we were doing the Helium Hoop project. She said the person to the left is not supportive... didn't bother to keep a lookout for her... but did she do that to the person on her right? And what's that statment about TRUST? ERmm... I dun trust her to make such a comment when she doubts everybody and everything and thinks she's the BEST of the BEST. Anyway, if she's so keen to keep a lookout for the person beside her, then she should go and be a traffic police and direct traffic at a busy cross-road junction! The cars' honking could be GREAT music to her ears too judging from the trashy things she listened to.

The Helium Hoop is really a big challenge because it may look like a simple task but its hard to bring the hoop down... like the name "helium hoop", it just keeps getting up! But we managed to do it after struggling hard... Phew!

The next game was Punching The Numbers. We couldn't imagine how fast we were disqualified for the first 2 rounds! We were disqualified during the first round because we had to do a brisk walk from the start line to the numbers, but we ran instead. In the second round, Jen Chong hit the key pad with Joan at the same time which is against the rules, and hence we were disqualified. For the 3rd round, we got a record of 49 seconds! So we tried for another round and managed to do it within 29 seconds! YEAH!! Got improvement lah!

After that, we had this Raft Escape Game. All 17 of us had to cross a toxic river on a pathetic raft. If anyone's legs touched the ground, we would be handicapped - blind, mute, or physically disabled. We had to complete it within 30 minutes! OOPs... that's a huge challenge... I fell off the raft because Miss Keng nearly fell on me! and she's really very heavy! Anyway, we got the hang of it after a while, to take the bricks and planks from the back and passed it to the front so as to progress towards the safety zone. However, we couldn't complete it on time and asked for extra time... but we were only allowed 15mins extra... still, we MISSED and PERISHED in the toxic river... ha ha ha

We had lunch for 45mins. Lunch was slightly better than Breakfast. After lunch, we proceeded to the hall and had some warm-up. We played the "BLOW WIND BLOW" game. After that, we had to use our body to pass the rope around. Played this game before. Had a slight backache during this game. Heng Shufen is behind me and gave me a massage... Miss Keng had some difficulty as she kept getting entangled... Well... but she very garang at the last game which is the TUNNEL as she forced herself to test her limit and got scratches on her elbows. Those who got had a chance to be in the centre shouting "BLOW WIND BLOW" had to do their forfeit - the chicken dance.

After the entanglement, we had to FIND OUR TREE but being blindfolded. Well, its quite scary thinking of Blind leading the Blind. And we had to climb up a flight of steps, and walk down the grass patch or slopes, and risk bumping into lamp posts or tripped by roots of trees... But we managed to find out tree in less than 30 mins! PHEW!

In the last game, we had to do something equivalent to the 'cu chi tunnel'. This is pitch black! I had to opt out as its not very friendly to my back.

It was a fun experience on the whole and the chocolate muffins for tea break are SO DELICIOUS!!!! and the siew mai too!!! Yum Yum!

And that's the first time I reached home at 6:30pm!! COOL!!

Miss Thick Skinned

There's a "Miss Thick Skinned" in my company, and I think she and "Miss Keng" are a formidable couple when put together.

The last I saw them in action was during the "Yu Sheng" lunch SPH invited us for Chinese New Year this year. Their chopsticks were in their hands all the time, and both of them like to take all the 'hor liao' and put them on their plates while they're busy eating other dishes!! IS this Greedy? Or Is this Yau Kwee?

Just now, "Miss Thick Skinned" came into my room to look for that "Kiam Pa Face" to go downstairs for a smoke. She saw my client's "Acne Body Wash" and asked me for 1 bottle. I had to give her one bottle since she's already standing there and ransacking my area! And she was asking "Only got 1 variant?" I was like ... come on lor! Give you free stuff you still want to look high & low, left and right, and want to choose this and that. For goodness sake I'm giving you a FREE bottle! I can take it back if I want!

Basket! Then I told her there's a SHOWER WASH as well, but it wasn't as good as the Scrub. She heard me and repeated what I said. And when she saw the packaging, she told me "HEY! This is good when you go for travelling!" and then she took one bottle! BASKET! I don't own a provision shop for Free! And she told me because she helped me with a survey, this is like a token of appreciation! Bloody BITCH!

Why are all the TME people so YAU KWEE and LAZY and IRRESPONSIBLE and such a NUISCANCE?????? I hope these people disappear from my view ASAP!!!!

Raindrops keep falling on my head

It rained very heavily when I emerged from the MRT station... Sigh... what a day to start with! Heavy rain!! shucks!!!

My shoes are wet! and my skirt is a bit 'wrinkled' but that's nothing... the worst thing is to avoid the puddles... ARGH!

And first thing at 10am, there's this OBS Briefing and "You-know-who-can't shut her trap" have to make comments and jeer at anything, and EVERYTHING! Oh my goodness! Who's the person who told me "to go to the OBS with an open mind?" Now I know she has extreme reaction when she goes to the beach where sandflies bites can turn deadly! Hmmm... strange... then how come she can tahan the sandy shores in Australia?? Maybe that's the difference between Aussie sandflies and Singapore sandflies.

Anyway, I am hoping I can make a trip down to Kinokuniya one of these days and buy my November Issue of PLAY magazine!! I've already SMSed Wallis, hopefully she'll pop by and help me to grab a copy before it gets out of stock...

"Miss Keng" is on leave tomorrow. Aiyoh! This woman is really one LAZY person, if you flip open the dictionary, and see the word "LAZY", you can literally find her picture beside the word as illustration to explain the meaning of the word.

Yesterday during WIP, she didn't tally the Master Contract figures again!! She stopped doing it when our checks are not so stringent and frequent! Again, she took what SPH sent over and assumed that those figures are correct and put it into her own "Master Contract Update Worksheet" and sent it out to the client!! How can she do that?? She wasn't even able to answer my boss when she asked her if the figures are correct!!! AIYOH!!

It's her birthday tomorrow and she's going on leave... ARGH! I'm waiting for her 'handover report' to see if there's anything she needs us to follow up with, but of course that's only for show as she is doing nothing much really!

Just now Xueling sent me an email. Its filled with Hello Kitty stuff! EEEEEWWWWWEEEEE... but "Miss Keng" will like! I don't really like Hello Kitty... but dunno why people think I like her... strange... I prefer Little Twin Stars (Kiki & Lala) and My Melody anytime! But I have to admit I think the "Hello Kitty" Plane is quite cool : ) The set meal looks too 'sweet' to be eaten! I would want to fly by the "MAYDAY Plane" anytime!!!

Must aim to sleep early tonight.... Last night spent 2 hours playing that "Zookeeper" game brother sent to me... It's so addictive!!!

Friday Night Fever

I'm feeling feverish...... was feeling very cold in the afternoon and no matter how I wrap myself up in my shawl, I don't feel the heat, instead, my palms are really cold.... and when I put my cold palms on my forehead, it felt super HOT!

ARGH!!! What's wrong??? Is it due to lack of sleep for the past few nights? And bathing late at night? Ok.... I'm wrong mama! I shouldn't have bathe so late at night, and bathe so early the next morning... Feel my neck acheing.... and also my back... it hurts.... reminded me of the time when I had to go to NUH for my medical checkup cos I suffer from a 'slanted backbone'.

Anyway, today is a chaotic day for my dear client OLC. She die-die want the ad to be upfront news right, and must be single digit some more! And SPH is not very willing to help because we keep changing dates, keep pulling out ads, and keep making requests to be paginated upfront... sigh ... but what to do? The client will always think that their 1 cent is bigger than the Buffalo Cartwheel.... we have to be thick skin and talk to the salespeople at SPH till they succumb lor.... but this time, heng Meiyin is working on it as Sharon is on leave, or else we'll be facing an LC No.2 and this is going to be hell!

The matter is only solved around 2:30pm. When Meiyin agreed that she should choose Upfront News Right, instead of Upfront News Left.. phew... can finally heave a sigh of relief.

Joan asked me out for lunch today, and we went to the Noodle House along Amoy Food Centre to eat the Taiwan Beef Noodles... Yummy Yum Yum! : ) Its really authentic... I felt as if I am back in Taiwan, eating beef noodles. But its a bit expensive - S$5! Hmmm.... and the portion is not really very big. We also ordered "guo tie" to share. Today's lunch is an expensive one - spent $6.50! Next week must try to spend less on lunch.... I have to save $$$ for my Japan trip next year! : )

Yanshan will be coming back for good in Sep 06! YEAH!!! AT last!! The 4 of us would be reunited!! We can siao together again, despite the 'upgrade' of Yuan to be Mrs. Ng which happened not too long ago. Hope that woman is adapting well to her new role, although they're not staying under the same roof as yet.

The aunty selling DVD was here just now. I bought 3 pieces of DVD for S$18. Have been waiting for "Howl's Moving Castle" and finally saw it. Actually, we thought of buying that for Jennifer Loke for her birthday on 22 Nov. But have to think of other things to buy for her liao. I also bought "Cinderella Man", heard from Emily that this is a really good film! I don't want to miss out on that! and also bought "Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus" for my 3 nieces. They will be very thrilled for sure : )

Juliet has been very stressed today over her King Kong bus ad and the Citibank 268 Building banner. Sigh... seems like our plans to pop champagne would be postponed to 16 Nov instead. This Raymond from MBO last minute drop an email to say that BCA requested for last minute add-on to make the structure more stable, hence, we can only target at 16 Nov as the start date. DAMN!!! We were joking about popping champagne and cutting ribbon on 12 Nov, and also bet on 0268 and 2680 for Sat & Sun 4D! Now it looks like we kena CHEATED...

I think I have to consult a doctor already... the fever is still there and I have a splitting headache.... and I can feel my bones aching....

Tomorrow mum's friend is coming to take measurements and help me custom-made a wardrobe for my study, as mum's complaining that I have too many clothes and books and there's not enough space to house them! sianzzzz... must spend $$$$ again... I'm still trying to get used to the new arrangement of my study room, with the bookshelves behind me... ARGH... dunno why but it sure feels awkward.... Maybe because of the fengshui, I haven't felt any better.... ARGH!!! and 18th Nov is the OBS!! I mustn't be too sick!

Juliet sent out an email to the team, and copied Soonthorn and Sharon Soh for the Birthday Celebration of our team members after the OBS. We're going to Changi Village for Seafood dinner... Yeah!! That place is quite near my house :) I hope I dun fall too sick!

I've fulfilled my task as a genie and told Shio a joke. YEAH!! It's so tough to find time to do such small things for your colleagues even though you work in the same office. Sometimes we hardly see each other as everyone is rushing out for appointments.

There's an article in MARKETING magazine on "Ad Watch" and this Senior Art Director, Kat Tan of Chuo Senko Advertising, said a lot of bad stuff for our Citibank's Home Saver Loan "Orange and Apple" print ad! haha...... I personally think its an ugly ad too, but nevermind, Y&R ought to dig a hole and bury the creatives who did that ad!

Yeah! The December issue of CLEO is here too! Can bring home to browse and kill my weekend in the event if I really fall sick and need to stay home to recuperate.... anyway, I'm not supposed to go out tomorrow, cos mum's friend is coming to take measurements and build me a new wardrobe!! ARGH!!!! Sianzzzzzzzzzzz

Preaching and Doing are 2 different things

Strange... some people can say things one way and do things the other way... it amazes me ... but anyway, I guess once you've gotten to know this person after some time, you will know it's not so amazing afterall, cos she's the type who 'preach but do otherwise'.

My colleague and I chatted about Miss Keng. Apparently she thinks Miss Keng is not so 'gone case' yet. I would like her to try working with her and see if she will vomit 2 gallons of blood per day. But she told me she worked with her before and things were not as bad, though she's a slow learner.... and that she told me different groups have different dynamics and that we are not here to sleep one another, so if that person is unhappy with the team, he/she can QUIT.

She also told me about her team being the most problematic... well... to a certain extent, I have to agree... haha... cos someone in the team has 'extreme thoughts' and is always very vocal, wanting to express her concerns or opinions everytime there's a discussion or a presentation. I don't deny that having different opinions or being 'forward-thinking' is not good, but please do so not at the expense of so many people. It's quite a waste of time to see such 'fighting scenes' take place... especially when 24 hours a day is not really enough for proper business to be done!

Anyway, she told me all about being patient and must hold Miss Keng's hand.... erm... excuse me, if I hold her hand, I'm afraid 'stupidity is contagious', I might turn stupid too! furthermore, she's already in the company for 5 years and still need me to hold her hand?? I'm in the advertising industry for 4 years only leh!!! I m 'greener' than her surely!! Don't understand how come that colleague can offer such a suggestion?!!?

Can I suggest we transfer Miss Keng to her team since she's so forgiving and magnanimous??

2 days of peace gone...

I have a "kiam pa face" neighbour at work. I can't stand the way she think she's superior in everything, including her taste in music. She always on her music damn loud without considering if other colleagues around her are using the telephone, or focusing on their work. And she thinks her taste in music is unique just because she listens to "Sigur Ros". And the ironical thing she did that made my impression on her fade is when we stayed back one evening to finish our work, I was listening to my iPOD cos I couldn't stand her 'tasteful' music, and I got a shock when I saw her standing beside me, putting the latest album of Sigur Ros "TAK" in front of my face and told me "This is their latest album." I was stunned... of course I knew that, I spend hours in HMV! Don't try to be a smart alec!

Anyway, she's away on MC for the past 2 days and BOY! there's so much peace and quiet! But today when she returned, she started to play her 'tasteful music' on her computer again and its making a lot of noises! If I were to give a lecture on what's music and what's noise, I can go on and on and on...... but I know a person like her wouldn't be bothered as she always thinks she's RIGHT. She's got that "STUCK UP" look and she always likes to ask people "You get what I mean?" at the end of every sentence.

There was also once when she blurted out a question out of nowhere and expected someone to answer her. When I looked up from my computer, she was actually looking at me and waiting for me to respond. I was taken aback so I asked her "You talking to me?" and she said YES. Come on, for a start, please call my name when you are talking to me. You just blurt a question and expect who to answer? STUPID!!

This is the MSN Emoticon which we used to depict her when my colleague and I were talking about her. The stuck-up attitude, and she's a smoker.... hehe... but the hairstyle is not like that. One media owner even commented that she looked like a mother of 1!! hahaha....... looks old for a woman who kept emphasising that she's turning 25 this year... well... face the truth! You don't have to tell everyone you are turning 25 when everyone thinks you are way past 25! For goodness sake!

I sympathise with media owners who speak to her over the phone as she's equally rude... but she shows favourtism if that media owner doesn't wear skirts :) She's a pants chaser? haha.... or she could be "BI" for all we know :P

Anyway, my peace is disrupted and I feel "PEACED"(past tense of peace, or run of out peace). Hence, I'm PISSED!

Media Owner Lunch

Shay & Caroline from Moove Media invited our team for lunch today at Sun Japanese Restaurant in CHIJMES. The decor is very nice, and the food is quite ok. I like the ambience a lot! The price is quite reasonable (haha.... cos not I pay mah! :P) Anyway, can suggest to Yuan & Xueling to visit there for a meal sometime, cos they will like it :)

Just sent an email to Shio, whom I'm supposed to go up to and tell him a joke to make him laugh... this is a FISH + Monthly Gig programme for October 'gigglers'. He would be visiting my office on Thursday so I must go and search online or joke books for a joke to make him laugh :P Too bad my genie got dismissed... no one is there to perform a song for me... so sad...

Saw Kat online just now. She's got a new job already, working in a production company. I guess it might as well be like that since she's more interested in production work.

Back to the lunch.

Lunch was at 12:30pm. Shay & Caroline were already there when we arrived. This is the first time I tried Japanese Claypot Rice and it tasted good ;) (had the yakiniku). I also had black sesame ice-cream and a small plate of fruits, and a cup of tea.... really can feel the food swimming in my stomache now...

But what's disgusting is "Miss Keng's" appetite. She shared a plate of sashimi with Caroline, but although its SHARED, the plate was in front of her all the time! Anyway, she was asking for a plate of ginger... oh! before our main course arrived, Jenn & I ordered a side dish for sharing - the avocado softshell roll... the moment the dish came, she quickly lifted up her chopsticks and her eyes were ON the dish!!! WOW!!! so eager when the food arrived... if only she shows more enthusiasm in her work!

And she shared a claypot rice with Caroline as well.... "SHARE" is such a mis-used word here because it doesn't look fair with you-know-who getting the BIGGER portion.

Those who ordered the sashimi set has udon included as well! She ate the UDON!!! And then there's ice-cream, and she ordered a separate share cos she wanted to try black sesame ice-cream. And her speed is really like lightning! PHEW! Well... I believe one must always enjoy your food, and chewing the food slowly will aid in digestion :)

After that, we rush down for the ACNielsen Media Presentation on "STORE WARS". Super corny! haha..... but helped to relieve stress for a while, I think Miss Keng must be super pissed with us when we rushed back to the office without even having the refreshments...

By the way, I've never seen anyone dressed more sloppily than her. Imagine wearing a bright red t-shirt with baggy jeans and slippers attending a media lunch with media owners at a Japanese Restaurant at CHIJMES and later attending a Media Presentation at DBS Auditorium...

Anyway, today is a short day... and I hope I dun have to stay back late...

Yeah!

Kat's Dismissal

Was quite shocked to come back from my leave on Wednesday to find out that Kat was being sacked, and that she was told to leave on Monday! Strange... how come I couldn't sense anything on Monday?

Actually, she's very fond of lying... I would never know when she's telling the truth or not... Happened to find out only when I overheard some colleagues talked about her 'background'. So she has been going around telling people about her sob stories... and it all defers from one person to another.... when she told me her story, she wanted me to keep it a secret, saying she doesn't want people to sympathise with her or pity her.

Her version of story to me is that she grew up in a problematic family. Her parents separated since young. Her mum left them and stayed with another man. Her father was abusive, and police would often come to their house because of her dad's frequent beatings and threats. She told me she stayed with her grandma, her siblings and and father in MacPherson. It seems that she's staying in an old semi-detached house (from her description of the place cos I used to work in MacPherson). But she claimed that she's poor.... dat's why got to work many part-time jobs to earn money to pay for school fees, as her parents don't really want her to study!!! And then towards the end of her attachment, she told me she's going to have to worry about where to stay cos her dad is going to sell the house, and he wants the money but not the family!

WOW!! This sounded serious and we went around trying to find out her who her MP is, my colleagues even offered her a place to stay, and gave her second-hand furniture!!! But all these are LIES of cours!

Ultimately, she told me her dad didn't sell the house. But she told my colleague he sold the house and they are now staying in Whampoa! Hmmm....

Anyway, I also heard from another intern that she's moonlighting... selling health products via MLM.... and that intern was 'cheated' by her..... Sigh.... how can young girls like dat be so "EVIL"???? Is there something wrong with the education system? Or is the media advocating all sorts of 'cool behaviour' from the Western Worlds??

Well... she also has been lying about her status in our company. She told me she's a CONTRACT staff when her team member told me she's a PERMANENT staff... Strange... why would she lie about this as well?

Sigh.... I guess its good for her to leave. It's like growing a rotten apple in the garden, slowly, the vegetation around her will turn rotten under her influence.

Miss "Keng"

Miss Keng is on half day leave today... She claims that her son is sick and has to go to the childcare to fetch him to see a doctor.

She came into my fish tank around 12:30pm and told my manager that she's unable to finish her post-buy because the childcare called her husband and informed him that her son is having very high fever and is now vomitting! She could even tell us things like "Oh! The childcare cannot find me so they called my husband and my husband just told me that my son is having very very high fever like 38.9 degrees celsius and he's vomitting!".

Well..... if I am her, I could cut out all those details about childcare not being able to find her and tell my manager I had to leave ASAP. But she can still tell stories.... and later ask my manager "So you think I should send him to the polyclinic or to the KK? cos I got no experience in this....." I also got no experience in this....but logic tells you that you shouldn' send your kid to the polyclinic!! Come on.... other than being CHEAP, do you think the medicine the polyclinic doctors prescribe can MIRACLES that can cure your sickness?? Also, don't you think it will take a long time for your turn to come when you wait at Polyclinics?

Never use BRAIN! Maybe she can't detect her brain when she's panicky!

7 yrs in the Media Industry doesn't mean that you are smart and able and experienced. My manager asked her to input some powerpoint charts and she had problems inputting the data. The worst is when she finally input the figures, she sent it to my manager without checking the alignment. My manager wrote an email back to say the alignment is horrible!!! This time she'll format the slides but do take note the next time. To my surprise, she replied and said she's not familiar with powerpoint at all, and the instructions to her was "input the data only", never mention about alighment!!! Oopps... then those Advance Word, Excel & Powerpoint sessions that she went to in the past for FREE was gone to waste!! Worse still, she showed me the Certificates she got from attending those sessions?!?!??!?!??!

Damn pissed off when she didn't even send an email to update us on what needs follow up? I just SMS her but she didn't even bothered to reply my sms.... Luckily I don't bet my life on her, or else I would have killed myself and owe the world many debts! I contacted SPH and asked if the booking is reflected in ADNET cos there's some problem with my ADNET password.... strange .... stupid ADNET doesn't seem to recognise my user ID and password... GRRRR....

Tomorrow is Deepavali!! YEAH!!! Holiday!!!! and Wed I'm on leave because I had to help Yuan with her ROM ; )

I wonder what is going to happen on the 2nd Nov ; ) Must find a way to make Xueling cry!! and tape it and send to Yanshan for 'viewing pleasure'..... hehehe

Xiamen 29-31 July 05

Never thought that Xiamen is such a nice city. This picture was taken while we were on a ferry ride to go to Gulang Yu Island "鼓浪屿". I think the island could be a very interesting scenic spot but too bad the rain spoilt everything.

Our first scenic spot was 南普陀寺 "Nan Pu Tuo Temple". But the tour guide spoke very funny English, hence, I could not really make out what he was saying... But anyway, the view is quite nice lah... but maybe I went with the wrong crowd who was there for the wrong reason, hence, everything turned out to be just ok... but the skies grew dark here.... and it started to rain....

This was a black and white shot of one of the pavilions in the temple... I didn't quite catch what's inside... but the architecture sure is pretty : ) There's this very big stone behind this pavilion that has the word "Buddha" (佛) written by some famous caligrapher. A lot of people were trying to take pics with that stone but I gave up ...

After the temple visit, we went to a place where they sold tea. As usual, they made us drinks to sample the tea and then asked us to buy tea... I've got a colleague who actually spent RMB$1,000 on teas alone ok?

Whatever unpleasanties we experienced during the temple and Gulang Yu Island trips, it was made up by the scrumptious 15 course dinner! yum yum... We simply had to try every dish even though we were really full!

It was free and easy on the second day so my colleagues and I went shopping!!!! hehe.... luckily we stayed in a hotel near the shopping belt. We didn't even manage to get 100m out of the radius of our hotel cos we were stuck at this "Trust Mart" behind our hotel. We were stuck there for half the day. I bought 1 Adidas backpack, 1 sling bag and 3 wallets! hehe... also bought some local flavoured LAY's potato chips to try.

Lunched at this place which sells Halal 刀削面 (opened 24 hours some more) and the store owner don't look like Chinese Chinese... hehe... but the noodles are good and cheap! RMB$4 only!!!!

After that we got to the Big Malls around our hotel area... we also went to McDonald's and try their local flavoured drinks... very innovative and tastes good! After which we spent a lot of time in a bookstore and ended up buying lots of Jimmy's Illustration Books.

At night, 7 of us ventured into a seafood restaurant and ordered a 7-course dinner that only costs RMB$20 per person!! That translates into S$4!!!! for seafood!! OMG!! That's dirt cheap!!! The table behind us are very unethical. They left without paying... and they ate a lot! There were only 2 of them but their bill came up to about RMB$300+ The waitresses were quarrelling and crying behind the tables... sigh...

We also tried the 老北京烤鸭卷 at KFC... Tastes quite ok : )

Overall, the trip is quite enjoyable! (In terms of shopping & food!)

15-24 July Egypt Trip

I had never imagine being able to go to Egypt. When I was young, I was really fascinated by Egyptian history. The myths about the gods... the mummies... the pyramids... Its a land filled with mysteries... I finally went there on 15th July!! and boy was I glad I made the choice!

The trip is very fulfilling : ) I got to know more about Egyptian history and culture.

We had to take a transit flight at Doha to go to Luxor. The flight from Changi Airport to Doha took us about 7 and a half hours. We reached Doha Airport around 10am+ (we are 5 hours ahead of time....) and by the time we finally reached Luxor, it was already about 3pm+.

Our local tour guide was Mustafa, who had a Degree in Archaeology and Egyptology. Our first stop was Karnak Temple. At Karnak Temple, one local Egyptian stood beside me when I was taking a photo. After that, he came after me asking for TIPS! I was really furious! Firstly, I didn't ask him to be in the photo with me! Secondly, I should be the one asking him to give me $$$ cos I took a picture for him! Alas! I deleted that pic from my digicam and quickly ran off to visit other sites. When I bumped into him at another site, he still remembered me and asked me for tips! How annoying! That's where we learnt our lesson not to take photos with strange local Egyptians...

Karnak Temple is really BIG! As this is the very first temple visit, we were in awe... I still couldn't believe I landed in Egypt...

After Karnak Temple, we visited Luxor Temple. This is smaller compared to Karnak Temple, but this is the place where we can see Rameses II's ego at work. Rameses II removed the cartouche from the statues which he deemed beautiful and carved his own name onto those! Aiyoh... how can he do that? But anyway, most of the statues in Luxor Temple bore his cartouche...

Our first night was spent at Joille Ville Movenpick Luxor Resort. This is really a haven!!! River Nile is just behind us! and the setting is really cool I felt that I was in Bali more than Egypt!! haha.... food was good : )

One of our tour mates lost her luggage... but the luggage managed to find her when we were on the Nile Cruise...

Visited Hatshepsut Temple, Colossi of Mem Non and Valley of the Kings on the next day. After which we're supposed to go to the Cruise for the night. We had an optional tour - horse carriage ride around the city : )

Had an enjoyable time on the Cruise. Had pleasant surprises when we returned to our cabin and found that there were 'towel origami' on our bed waiting for us! We were so touched we left a note and some tips for whoever who did those. The waiters in the restaurant are pretty cool, showing off lots of tricks, and at the same time, played IQ games with us : )

Visited more temples along the Cruise - Temple of Horus in Edfu, Kom Ombo Temple, Philae Temple, Abu Simbel Temple & The temple for Nefertari... Very interesting carvings on the walls.....

Also visited a Nubian Village and took my first camel ride! My camel was galloping!! Oh boy!

From Aswan, we took an overnight train to go to Cairo. Cairo's streets are really busy! We visited the Pyramids and even went into 1 of them! Phew! Damn stuffy! but its not really that narrow as I've expected : )

We also visited the Egyptian Museum and Old Cairo whereby we visited Coptic Churches and Mosques, plus the famous Khan Al Khalili market.

10 days passed by just like that..... I really had very fond memories of Egypt and when the tomb of the labourers are open, I might just go back to take a look. It has evidence of blueprint in building a pyramid!! WOW!!! And I've yet to visit Alexandria!!!!

If time permits, I shall do a day-by-day entry into my blog... but that's the synopsis for now!

Have been very busy at work lately.... Damn sianzzzzzzzzzzz
