Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang yesterday and found it very entertaining and amusing.
The audience were very spontaneous, and there were a lot of children around (mostly foreigners...)
The storyline was an interesting one. The 'Vulgarians' stole the show as the trusted 'spies' of the Baron Bomburst & Baronness of Vulgaria tried to steal the car from the eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts.
The lines are very funny. I particularly liked the part when the 2 spies Goran & Boris were devising a plan to cheat the British to hand over the car. In order for them to hide their Vulgarian identity, they have to act British. Goran - the shorter spy - said "I've got a Vulgar heart, I've got a Vulgar mind, and I speak Vulgar English! ", to which Boris - the taller spy - replied "Ah! No! That would make you American!" hahahaha... it was so hilarious!
Then the Baron loves toys... but the Baronness hates children. At the slight mention of the word "CHILDREN" and she would throw herself into a 'fit'... that's why in Vulgaria, there's a "SUPPRESSION OF CHILDREN LAW". That's why there's a childcatcher, which everyone BOOED at the end of the performance...
The car was really really cool! It operates by manners... If you said "PLEASE", it would respond to your pleas. So cute! I find the backdrop truly amazing when the car fell off the cliff and then suddenly, it grew wings and flew.... dat's so amazing!!!
I also liked the windmill backdrop... when night falls and the stars are up in the sky.
Names of the characters are quite cute too. Caractacus Potts was in love with this lady called "Truly Scrumptious", whose father owns a food-making factory. His father named the other 2 daughters "Madly Scrumptious" & "Deeply Scrumptious" & the brother was "Seriously Scrumptious".
Overall, I really loved the musical.
