1st September - Teachers Day!! (none of my biz also)
Don't really understand why this movie is so hot till we had problems buying tickets for this show. Went to watch it at VivoCity on Saturday after my KTV session with YS & XL.
The 9:5opm show was selling fast and we would be sitting in separate seats, so we watched the 12:20am one instead. My god! We had a hard time waiting man!!!
We had a slow dinner at White Dog Cafe first. Ordered Cabonara... slurp! Also ordered the Crusty prawns to share, the prawns are ok. But we were very hungry after singing for 5hrs at K-ster and being a little 'jammed' on the roads...
After that, we had to find safety pins for XL cos she complained that her pants was too loose and it may fall any moment. Hmm... where on earth can we get safety pins at this age? Last time we can still find safety pins effortlessly at around 50 cents for a whole bunch of them in all sorts of sizes. I don't think Watsons even sell safety pins nowadays!
So I put on my thinking caps and told her there are 2 alternatives :
1. Go into a boutique that has the price tag secured to the clothing with a safety pin. Pretend to try the clothing and take the pin instead.
2. Go into a shop that sells baby related merchandise. People still will let babies wear the traditional cloth 'diapers' and have to secure with safety pins.
We saw "Mother Care" and went inside. ALAS! When the salesgirl brought us to the place where they kept the safety pins, I can't help but burst into laughter as the safety pins came in a pack that cost S$6+ & they were ultra BIG! hahahaha.....
So we gave up and went into a boutique instead... hehe... you know wat happened next huh....
After that, we decided to go to Gloria Jean's to have cake & coffee. The cake in Gloria Jeans' were not that rich & tasty. We ordered the Oreo Cheese Cake & the Royal Chocolate Cake. Quite disappointed... But I have no complaints about the Cafe Latte I ordered.
881 was a show dedicated to the 'getai' scene in Singapore. Most of the conversations were in Hokkien.... May & Choy can't speak Mandarin for NUTS!! Alamak! Hear them speak mandrarin was such a torture!
Don't understand why Qi Yuwu has to hold this cock throughout the movie, until he had to sell it away to raise money for Small Papaya's medical bills. He was supposed to be deaf & mute, but strange enough, he can do DJ mixing! Hmmm....
Chen Weilian did a guest appearnce in the show too! Acting as himself, the blind busker who sang outside the Temple.
It was pretty touching when the small papaya passed away. She pressed on to realise her dreams of being a getai singer despite knowing that she is suffering from liver cancer.
Some of the conversations were quite farnie even though my command of the hokkien language is 'private limited'.
A good effort by Royston Tan but I don't think its really that fantastic....
